First is a website with ESL games to play.
We'll try Falling Clouds in class. It's a grammar game - put the words in order.
The easy games are Fast Hand and SpeedBalls. They are both vocabulary games.

Next is a YouTube site with music for learning English. It has songs for children.

This YouTube website has popular English-language songs with English lessons to help you learn.
4.
You can also listen to VOA's classic rock series. It is an interesting program about rock & roll music, but has no pictures. It is more difficult than the other websites listed here.
5.
STARFALL is the reading website we used earlier this semester. You can practice reading at this site. Choose the kind of reading you enjoy. Then listen to and read with the story.

Let's Use EXCEL 2010
Let's try a new lesson:
How to use: EXCEL 2010 Tutorial for Beginners.
This video will show you how to make an Excel spreadsheet.
We'll also look at this EXCEL page and practice it in class.
EXCEL is difficult for me to use, but I'll do my best to show you.
This website gives vocabulary for EXCEL. We will learn some of the most important words used in this program. I'll also give you a vocabulary paper to practice.
I'll give all students our EXCEL practice papers this week. Learn the vocabulary and using EXCEL will be easier.
Here's some computer vocabulary practice - remember what you learned before. You can practice #1, #3, and #4 first. We'll try #2 (the crossword puzzle) in class this week.
This computer parts exercise is easy to use - click on the part and the computer word will appear.
This listening practice should be easy, after using EXCEL.

Microsoft Publisher 2010 and more ESL lessons
Have you finished your Publisher greeting card yet?
If you have, please send a copy to my email (teacherlinda12@gmail.com) and I will print a color greeting card for you.
Here's a free ESL book - you can use it online, or print a copy of it.
Be careful - there are 174 pages. We can't print it at school.
There is also a youtube.com channel with English 900 lessons.

Practice Your English Here
Here are some web addresses to learn English:
1. LearningChocolate vocabulary practice
Choose the vocabulary you want to learn.
First, listen to the words (click on the 'listen' icon).
Next, do the matching exercises at the bottom of page.
Click on the listen icon, then drag it to the correct word above.
If you are right, you will hear the word.
Do as many exercises as you like.
2. Language Guide vocabulary practice
Start by choosing your native language (Chinese) at the top of the page.
Next, click on English as the language you want to learn.
You will see many topics to study.
Choose the topic you want to learn.
When you point the mouse at the word or sentence, you will hear it.
3. English songs on Youtube
Here you can listen to songs and see the lyrics (words). Open google.com and go to translate to see what the words mean.

On the next page, click the PLAY button and listen to the song

4. Open Chrome or Firefox: google.com/images
5. Type the name of what you like in the search box - ask the teacher if you don't know how to spell the name

Email Vocabulary Practice and more
Yesterday we learned five words about email. There are 15 words on the handout.
Today we will practice the next 10 words.
When you finish, open your email and look for these words.

How to Use Gmail
Do you need an email account?
This semester we will use gmail at www.google.com.
You can learn about gmail at the above address. We will practice in class, too.
[If you have yahoo email, you can use it in our class.]
We won't use other email companies at school because we sometimes have problems with other emails.
When everyone has an email address, I will make a list of our class email addresses and we will practice using email.
First we will learn email vocabulary.

Save "My Dream House" to USB flash drive
Is everyone getting ready for Chinese New Year on Sunday?
Let's learn some New Year vocabulary.
Look at these pictures about 5 lucky foods.
Here's a website about the holiday. It helps me understand some of the traditions.
After you make your "dream house", copy/paste into a WORD document. Here are 3 steps to do this from the Internet:
1. Click PrintScrn key
2. Open a WORD document
3. Click ctrl v (paste)
Now your "dream house" is in the document. Here are 5 steps to make your house big.
1. Double-click inside the picture
2. Picture Tools > format > crop
3. Use your mouse to push the black lines in and crop (=cut) the picture
4. After you crop the picture, select it (click inside the picture) and stretch to make it big
5. Print a copy

Use WORD to make vocabulary tables
Monday is ML King Day - no school.
On Tuesday, January 22, we will start to use the WORD program.The teacher will give you a WORD Tools page to learn. Look at HOME and FILE. We'll practice these today.
1. Click here to learn about Microsoft WORD 2010 in English. You can translate it to Chinese with Google translate. We'll do this in class.
2. Go to this website to find words you want to learn. Next, you'll put these words in a WORD table.
3. Learn about FILE: Save, Save As (use first time), Print
HOME: font, size, bold, italic, underline, ...
